Congratualtions on your new Aquabox filter. You should follow the below instructions diligently to make sure your filter is installed and operate properly so you (and your fish) will enjoy all the benefits this new design have to offers.

Unboxing & Initial Setup - Instructions

The Aqua Box filter is delivered fully assembled and ready to go, all you need to do is:

1) Take out and store the "basket handle" (you will need it during the weekly maintenance).

2) Make sure that the bio-bags and fiber-media didn't shift during shipping. If needed, adjust according to the photo then place and snap-in the "Top-cover" on the “filtration chamber”. Secure the "Top-cover" to the filter body with the rubber-band (using the front and back hooks).

3) Find the right size "Shelf" to fit your "Powerhead inlet" and mount the powerhead on that shelf (we provide three shelves with different opening diameter, find the one that best fit your "Powerhead inlet"). Place and snap-in the ""Shelf & Powerhead" on the “outlet chamber”. Secure the "Shelf" & "Powerhead" to the filter body with the rubber-band (using the front and back hooks).

4) Make room inside your aquarium, preferably the Aquabox should be placed against the back wall near the corner so the inlet "curvy slots" suck water from the center of your tank.

5) Submerge the Aquabox gently to the aquarium so the water can slowly fill it up. position the Aquabox properly near the back corner (the Aquabox is stable, you don't have to lean it or use suction-caps).

6) Connect your "Powerhead" to the power and adjust the aeration syphon pipe. The added aeration / oxygen to the water is critical so make sure it is working properly. In addition, point the out going water stream to the center of your tank and downward.

If everything is working properly, within 5 minutes you should start seeing: fish waste, leftover food and debris getting sucked and collected in the fiber-media and the white color will start changing to light brown.

Weekly Maintenence

The Aquabox filter work best if you maintain it properly. Following the below weekly and monthly routines proved to us that you can completely avoid (or dramatically minimize) the water chang.

Every week, we need to replace (not wash and re-use) the fiber-media. it is critical that you use new fiber-media every week (can't reiterate this enough). A 20 ounces of fiber-media / fiberfill bag cost less then $10 and should last you 9~12 month.

1) Prepare the following:  replacment fiber-media and bucket big enough to hold the fiber-media basket

2) Utilizing the "basket handle" top side, gently push any "big particles" &  "heavy debris" towards the inlet "curvy slots". If you don't do that, the "big particles" will take longer to break down and get sucked and by being proactive, you helping the process and elevate the water quality (your fish will thank you).

3) Turn off your "Powerhead" and remove the "Top-cover" (un-hook only the front side  rubber-band)

4) Using the "basket handle" bottom side, lift the fiber-media basket out of the filetr (but not out of the water.

5) Submerge the bucket (big enough to hold the fiber-media basket) in the aquarium water and gently place the fiber-media basket inside the bucket, then lift the bucket (with the fiber-media basket inside) out of the water and immediately put the "Top-cover" back in place (so your fish will not get inside).

6) Take the bucket to the sink and replace the fiber-media with NEW fiber-media in the fiber-media basket.

7) Remove the "Top-cover", place the fiber-media basket (with NEW fiber-media) inside the “filtration chamber” (use the "basket handle" if needed) and immediately snap-in the "Top-cover" back in place and scure it to the filter body with the rubber-band.

8) Connect your "Powerhead" to the power and adjust the aeration syphon pipe. Make sure to point the water stream to the center of your tank and downward.

If everything is working properly, within 5 minutes you should start seeing: fish waste, leftover food and debris getting sucked and collected in the fiber-media and the white color will start changing to light brown.

Monthly Maintenence
